The course consists of selected topics. The discussed topics change from one year to another. Lectures are connected to the seminar. This course is regarding contents linked with the course Fieldwork.
Every year individual selected topics from the field of historical archaeology are discussed in depth: settlement structures, economy (subsistence activities, mining, crafts, trade etc.), religions and beliefs, attitude towards death and burial in the Middle Ages and New Age, archaeology of colonialism, industrial archaeology. Amounts of written versus material sources. Possibilities of social interpretations of material (archaeological) sources with the use of modern archaeological theories and concepts.
